Democratic Match calls itself the internet liberal dating service. I especially like this one because half of their profits go to environmental organizations. Joining is free. Members are allowed to create a personal ad and exchange instant messages with other singles on the site. However, you are required to upgrade to a premium membership for a small monthly fee if you would like to send private messages to someone you’d like to know better and possibly meet. Categories for gay and lesbian singles can be found as well.
This is another site for singles who are concerned about the environment. This site is also inexpensive, costing about $5 per month. Singles may sign up for a one week free trial so they can get a feel for the site and decide whether or not it will work for them. This site looks a bit newer than the others but still may be worth a visit.
Green Singles has been online since 1996. It was a newspaper before that so it’s been around for quite some time. They share 5% of their profits with environmental organizations. This site is for singles who are interested in natural medicine, the environment, human rights issues, animal rights, and more. One neat feature of Green Singles is the “Green Market” section of the website that allows members to promote their businesses. This dating site is a bit more expensive than the others but seems to offer more.
This is another dating site for liberal-minded singles that has a lot of great content and recommended links. Singles may search the database for free but must sign up for a paid membership if they want to contact anyone. I can’t comment on the monthly cost because I wasn’t able to find it listed on the site.
I was impressed with this site because it’s easy to navigate and was honored by Veg News in 2005 as the best vegetarian dating site. And it’s inexpensive, costing only $30 for an entire year of services. Veggie Connection looks great.
This site offers a full two week trial period with all features activated. This dating site has been featured in magazines such as PC Times and Body and Soul. Veggie Date is a community project of Green People which is a world-wide database of “green” products. Veggie Date’s services cost only $20 per year.
While Care 2’s Connect section isn’t specifically a dating site, it can certainly be used to connect with like-minded individuals. This site is neat because you can search for people who are passionate about causes you care about such as animal welfare or global warming. It really is a great resource even if it’s not just for singles. And it’s free!
